Press DVD of TV/DVD SELECT; Insert DVD with foreign RC; Remove DVD; Press OPEN/CLOSE; Press TIME SEARCH, 1, 1 and 9; If this doesn't work, press TV, 2, 0 and 0. (for the new firmware versions) Samsung DVD-HD841 / DVD-HD845 / DVD-HD850 / DVD-HD941 / DVD-M104? / DVD-N2000 / DVD-N501 / DVD-P231 / DVD-P421 / DVD.

This is not promised to work but a known hack for your model of DVD player is. Make sure the player is switched on, and is at the Samsung logo screen. Also check the tray is shut and that there's no disc in the player. Now press the REPEAT button on the remote, followed by a five digit code. This code is different depending on what region your player is *currently* set to: R1 - 29334 R2 - 38767 R3 - 56732 R4 - 76884 R5 - 53814 R6 - 24462 So for example if you have an R2 player, press REPEAT-3-8-7-6-7.

If you've done this correctly (and your player is compatible with the hack), you should see a number at the top left corner of the screen corresponding to the current region. Now, pressing any number from 1 to 6 will change to the corresponding region.

Or, press 9 for auto-region mode. Next, press OPEN/CLOSE to open the tray, followed by Standby (or DVD POWER) on the remote to close it and put the player into Standby mode. The next time you turn your player on, the new region will be set. Don't forget that if you want to hack it again, you'll need to use a different code, as listed above. After having pressed the BLACK button on the RC of the player (model code: BD-J550/ZF), I entered the number 57538 but my current region code '2' was not displayed on the screen. Hi, I have been trying to use that hack on a BD-J5500/EN purchased in Germany in January 2018. It lists, that the current firmware version is B-JM63BSPWWB-1018.0 and whatever I try, I cannot get it to display the region code number as described in the hack.

Can you please report, which firmware version was on the player, where the hack worked? Using a slight variation of Sallyj’s instructions I was able to successfully reset the DVD player’s region code to “9”. Foreign DVDs that were previously rejected now play well. I have the Samsung remote control AK59-00149A, and Samsung DVD player model # BD-J5500/ZS, purchased in South America and originally set to region “4” (code 76884). The procedure I used is as follows. Timing seems important. All button presses on the remote control should be done in series with no intervening delays.

Power on the TV and DVD player (no disk inserted) On the remote control press the third button in the bottom row (same as “BLACK button BELOW the yellow 'C' button” per Sallyj) Enter your unit’s 5-digit region code. Tried both variation above (with and without eject), pressed keys quickly without delay. Current or new region never appeared on screen, Region 4 DVD was not able to play.
