• 1 Answer SOURCE: You don't need to take it all apart to get at the heat sink. Take the strip off under the display (slides too the left to unlock) remove the keyboard. You will see a metal plate that covers the fan. (the fan is fixed too this plate. Remove the plate and the heat sink is underneath. You will probably find the fins are packed with lint. If you take the heat sink out be careful of the display cable that is bent around it and regrease the cpu when you replace it.

Posted on Feb 05, 2008. • 149 Answers SOURCE: It a bit tricky this one.none of the screws actually holds the keyboard in.you'll need to remove the plate over the power buttons.this is held in by pressure clips.ie it snaps into/out of place.to do this I eased up the plate by gently prying the hinged brackets up and prying the facia off.be careful its only thin plastic.once you've done that the keyboard is ready to slide up towards the hinge brackets.its a bit tight so be careful but its only held onto the board by the data cable.reverse procedure to fit new one.
