AutoCAD Civil 3D software is a design and documentation solution for civil engineering that supports building information modeling (BIM) workflows. By learning to use AutoCAD Civil 3D, you can improve project performance, maintain consistent data, follow standard processes, and respond faster to change. This course gets you up and running with AutoCAD Civil 3D. First, instructor Josh Modglin shows how to model a surface, lay out parcels, and design geometry, including the making of horizontal alignments and vertical profiles. Next, Josh demonstrates how to create corridors, cross sections, pipe networks, and pressure networks. Then, he covers working with feature lines and grading objects, and how to share your data.
He wraps up by providing an overview of plan production tools. Instructor •. How does it differ from other civil engineering CAD software applications? AutoCAD Civil 3D is really Autodesk's premiere civil engineering and plan production software.
And the reason is threefold. One, it's an object modeling application. What that means is when you create civil design objects, such as an alignment, you're creating an alignment object in the software.
This alignment object is just as much an object as a line or circle in AutoCAD. This is different from the other software, which may create a polyline that represents an alignment. Because of being an object modeling application, the objects can actually contain different relationships that go on, and this is another reason why Civil 3D is different and stands out from all the others. Some of the relationships, such as object to object. A profile, surface profile, is related to the • Practice while you learn with exercise files. Watch this course anytime, anywhere.
