Actually I kind of doubt thats (location) is the problem; the 2.1 patch worked fine. Unfortunately, I did not write down the file when I did the original 2.2 update. When I repeating the patch it is working on Resources Movies2.ds2res and it does exist. The actual error message is 'Error 15 - Old File does not exist. ' I wonder if the bad file is the next on the list - if that is indeed the correct error. I also downloaded the patch again - in the unlikely event that a zipped file was corrupted and some how it managed to unzip. Alas, it still broke in the same way.

No mods/no trainers/no cd hack. I do have alcohol 120% installed but not being used with DS 2. Easy website pro 4 free download. As an experiment I uninstalled alcohol 120% and tried to install the patch; no luck, same error. Its a fairly clean win xp/sp2 system; fresh reinstallation 6 months ago (fully up on my patches) Its a legally purchased version of the game from Best Buy; and the 2.1 patch worked fine. Still haven't tried the full reinstall; it will probably happen next week. Oh forgot to mention, did try the turn off the antivirus trick and it is the English/US version.

After uninstalling - disabled AVG antivirus 'AVG Resident Shield' Then, installed DSII from the disks. Then, installed DSII 2.2 patch - Note the patch had been previously unzipped to a clean directory and in my playing I had set the gpgupdate.exe compatibility display settings under properties to 'run in 256.' , 'run in 640 x 480.'

And 'Disable visual themes' I had not set them back; do not think that these Display Settings has anything to do with solving my install problem, but I include this for completeness.
